The original prank call:

I hadn’t yet heard the actual call, so here it is for all the rest of you. This article attempts to put everything in the one place for those late to the table. Obviously this is where you should start before taking a stance either way on the issue. Note the famous last words of Michael Christian “We don’t want to cause any trouble…”

The biggest scandal in Australian radio history?

The Courier Mail reported the following:

In one of the biggest scandals in Australian radio history, Southern Cross Austereo has pulled all advertising on its 2Day FM Sydney station, after the nurse involved in the network’s Kate Middleton prank call reportedly committed suicide.

The furore surrounding two Today Network presenters’ prank call to the London hospital where pregnant Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton was staying has exploded after Jacintha Saldanha – the nurse who reportedly transferred the call – has tragically killed herself, according to reports out of the UK.

The Today Network has been embroiled in controversy in recent days after two of its presenters – Michael Christian and Mel Greig – called the hospital impersonating Prince Charles and the Queen and were given information about Middleton by hospital staff.

In the wake of the tragedy, the network has stopped all advertising on the station in the short term, after advertisers including Coles began to walk away.

Both presenters have also been taken off the air.

Southern Cross Austereo released the following statement: “Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) and 2Day FM are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the death of nurse Jacintha Saldanha from King Edward VII’s Hospital and we extend our deepest sympathies to her family and all that have been affected by this situation around the world.

“Chief executive officer Rhys Holleran has spoken with the presenters, they are both deeply shocked and at this time we have agreed that they not comment about the circumstances. SCA and the hosts have decided that they will not return to their radio show until further notice out of respect for what can only be described as a tragedy.”

Meanwhile, in a press conference held this weekend, Holleran expressed his sympathies but also maintained the company had done nothing illegal, and said prank calls have been a part of the radio landscape for decades.

He also said the two presenters were “completely shattered” over the incident.

Dude, really? Is that really something worth killing yourself over? Either this woman really – really – really had some deep respect for the Royal family and her sense of honour is like that of Japanese ritual suicide “Seppuku” victims… or there was definitely more going on in this woman’s life than just this scandal. What makes it even more unbelievable an act is that Jacintha Saldanha wasn’t even the nurse who gave out the sensitive information over the phone. All Saldanha did was act as receptionist and patch them through to another nurse after barely even speaking to them. You’d think that if anyone in the hospital should appear foolish and guilt-ridden for being duped by bad accents and completely unfunny and unoriginal royal corgi jokes it would be the other nurse, not Jacintha Saldanha.

Why did Jacintha Saldanha kill herself?

While the hospital did not come out and clearly state why did Jacintha Saldanha kill herself, they released a statement expressing their grievances over the loss of a great nurse:

“It is with very deep sadness that we confirm the tragic death of a member of our nursing staff, Jacintha Saldanha,” the statement read. “Jacintha has worked at the King Edward VII’s Hospital for more than four years. She was an excellent nurse and well-respected and popular with all of her colleagues.

“We can confirm that Jacintha was recently the victim of a hoax call to the hospital. The hospital had been supporting her throughout this difficult time.”

As you would expect, the Internet has quickly become awash with conspiracy theorists contemplating on why a woman would kill herself apparently in the middle of the road on her way to work, leaving her two kids behind, while the authorities are quick to label it a suicide before conducting an autopsy or an investigation. We don’t have the full story, and because of this, a lot of people are crying “inside job”.

How do we know she killed herself? Just because they tell us she committed suicide before starting an investigation? Also, why would she kill herself on her way to work? In fact, how did she kill herself? I suggest you google the place where she was apparently found. Why would you kill yourself in the middle of the road? Why didn’t she leave a suicide note? people don’t seem to question anything.

To start with, to clear up the confusion about the first nurses involvement in the breach of hospital confidentiality, she was the one who authorised and transferred the call through to the department where the duchess was being treated, the second nurse involved in the phone call had no way of knowing that the pranksters would be able to get through to her phone line so easily without going through proper security measures as this is No ordinary NHS hospital, and after all who would withhold information from the queen when asked by the lady her self, lets face it the breach lies with the nurse who originally put the call through. Now regarding the suicide situation, there is no way that the police could rule out suspicious circumstances and claim this was a suicide before their had even been an investigation or a autopsy done on the body and also why would a person would be heading to work and commit suicide half way through their journey without leaving a suicide note, it just doesn’t make sense. So the question everybody is asking, why would anybody want her dead? Their are a many reasons, but I believe the reason for this is so the government can gain more control over what the media are saying in the news papers, airing on national television and over the radio, basically an excuse so they can tighten the laws on media broadcasts, because the media (that they don’t already control) are the only line of defence that ordinary people have against the government. I have so much more to say on this subject but I will wait for more comments on this thread. Thanks for reading.

Guys…Guys…THIS IS THE ROYAL FAMILY we’r talking about, the biggest crime Lords of our time..with the power to kill Lady Diana because she didn’t exactly “fit in” and was not snobby enough not to mention flirting with “an Arab”… and this poor Nurse..she was just there at the wrong place at wrong time..and why wouldn’t they get rid of her..she is after all “indian” a “lower class” if not subhuman..by thier standards…the Royal family is pure evil…just dig into Hary’s ex girlfriend’s /flings..and see how MI5 dealt with them….WE ARE ALL “COMMON PEOPLE”.. disposables to them..nothing more…

-WakeUpCall

This has all the hallmarks of an M15 murder plot. People do not just kill themselves over childish pranks and certainly not a beautiful professional married lady with two children and everything to live for. We are once again being fed a bag of lies by the privately owned media circus and all their wicked minions in high places. Just like Will’s mum Lady Diana they had her killed and then pathetically made it look like an accident.

Who Are Michael Christian and Mel Greig?

I hadn’t ever heard of them before all of this, so chances are neither had you. Moreso because 2DayFM is generally a pretty shitty Sydney commercial gossip station and I am an avid Triple J listener, but whatever.

Michael Christian had just last week begun his 2DayFM career, following a rise through the ranks of smaller radio stations.

His career started at a small community radio station in his regional hometown of Gilgandra in northern NSW. He then nabbed a job at Newcastle station NXFM, becoming afternoons announcer and later anchoring breakfast.

He moved to Sea FM on the central coast and then to Austereo’s 92.9 in Perth. After a stint in Melbourne, he started his 2Day FM Hot 30 Countdown gig in early December where he joined Mel Greig.
“With my skills as social media specialist here at the Fox I’m hoping to do things on the hot30 that have never been done before,” Christian told a radio news website this month.

He was no stranger to controversy, however.

Just a fortnight ago he made global headlines as the man responsible for causing a near mutiny aboard pop star Rihanna‘s private jet for his incessant harmonica playing.
With 200 journalists from around the world aboard Rihanna’s seven countries in seven days promotional plane ride, Christian and his harmonica made international headlines after his interminable playing drove fellow passengers to despair.
Website Gawker reported: “Some Australian guy on the plane was playing a harmonica, which is internationally recognised as grounds for justified homicide.” MTV reporter Maude Deitch Tweeted: “This Australian motherf***er with the harmonica on the plane is about to get murked.”

At the time he relished in the notoriety, actively promoting the controversy he had created and embracing the subsequent media attention by promoting it via social media.

Christian’s counterpart, Greig scored her 2DayFM co-host role in March, days before her 30th birthday, and declared she was ”the luckiest girl in the world”.
Ms Greig’s dream was to “lick chocolate syrup off Usher’s abs… and get mongst his sexiness” she said about her new Sydney job.

In 2011 Ms Greig was a contestant on The Amazing Race with her younger sister Alana Munday, where she revealed she had run away from home at 15 and her family had in recent years began to heal.

Since Ms Saldanha’s death, both pranksters have gone to ground, removing their Twitter accounts and having been ordered by their employer not to answer questions.

They have also been pulled off air, with no indication when – or if – they will return.

Anonymous takes a stab

The royal fallout has since darkened further with a video apparently from hacktivist group Anonymous on a new YouTube account.

“We have studied the facts and found you guilty of murder… We hereby demand you terminate the contracts of Mel Grieg and Michael Christian… You have a funeral to pay for.

This is your one and only chance to make amends. You have one week to do so.”

Even if this is just a fake, which personally, I think it is, the fact remains; a lot of individuals around the world would like to see justice – even revenge – served on Mel Grieg, Michael Christian and 2DayFM.

Wow. People are a bit harsh. I have to wonder whether any of these group creators have actually listened to the original prank call? It seems just a stretch undeserved, wouldn’t you think?

Look, I wouldn’t be shedding any tears if 2DayFM were to go, after all, the state of radio and television in this country is just abysmal as it is and there’d be no valuable entertainment lost. But anyone can make an innocent prank. I’ve actually made my fair share of prank calls that didn’t but had the potential to lead to tragedy also. That’s the risk of a prank, you just don’t know how your subject is going to react.

Are we seriously going to next consider whether prank calls themselves should become illegal? I wouldn’t be surprised if our nappy-clad nation next puts that up for debate.

it reminds me of the furore over the Innocence of Muslims. Another storm in the teacup.

At least there aren’t protests and killings.

Hey faggot- just wanted to let you know I fucked your mum up the arse and took a photo. I wanted to send it to you but couldn’t quite figure out how to add attachments, so hold tight buddy boy cuz it’s coming up!

If you didn’t like what I wrote, you’re a hypocrite mate, because you endorse doing the same shit.

Prank calls aren’t funny- they’re malicious forms of entertainment for whiny turd-scrapers who are a drain on society.

Here’s the actually funny thing- if prank callers killed themselves tomorrow (it’s funny but bear with me), other people’s lives would actually be BETTER- simply by not having to bother answering the phone a few less times for spam.

So, if you want to make us laugh, kill yourself mate. 😉

I’m cool with it, I could delete it but you’re entitled to make yourself look like as large a moron as you like.
