Japan’s Crystal Toilet – You’ll Spend More Than A Penny

Just when you think things don’t get any stranger, you always find one….

Thought your bathroom needed a spot of renovation? How about the $130,ooo toilet which has recently gone on display in Japan.

72,000 Swarovski crystals later, and one month of hard labour from the jewellers, here we have a crystal encrusted toilet. Yes, just what we all need. At $130,000, this toilet will make you spend more than a pretty penny.

Japan is renowned for making toilet gadgets, including the now widely adopted world wide soft close lid, but this might well be one flush too far…

What is this toilet missing? Crystals, apparently. Image courtesy of http://www.flickr.com/photos/maile/

Even in light of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan, Lixil showroom’s manager Kazuo Sumimiya said “Much has happened in Japan this year, and as we approach the end of the year we’re displaying this item, hoping that we will carry on and make the coming year one that shines brilliantly.”A vast majority would , if they could afford it, go with “the Satis. Coming from Japan, this toilet from Lixil Corp. is studded with 72,000 swarovski crystals. Thats exactly 72,000 crystals too many for my morning bling. The toilet is currently on display at the company’s showroom in Tokyo until December 28. Whether the company will put it up for sale at the end of the viewing or not is something that the company is not telling us. A Lixil official was quoted saying “The item reflects our wish that the coming year will be a bright year”.

How Bizarre.
